Once Upon a Watershed
is a program of the CREW
Telling the Story of Our Watershed Through Exploration, Education, and Stewardship
Kindergarten - 'Once Upon A Watershed'
For children in Kindergarten classes, OUW introduces our youngest residents to the concept of their watershed and the importance of their ecological address. We make their environment relatable using Dianne Bennett’s book “Once Upon a Watershed” (now in English and Spanish), which illustrates native plants and animals of Ventura County's Watersheds.
Through guided movement activities, children embody local plants and animals, both learning about and directly experiencing their local environment. This program is run both indoors and outdoors at schools throughout Ventura.
